Mild mannered off stage, John Hammond in performance is a highly combustible package. Many an uninitiated concert-goer in the front row has sustained whiplash from that first blast. It's just one guy with an acoustic guitar…how much sound and energy can he generate? PLENTY! A better question would be how has he managed to maintain that level of intensity since he made his first album at age 20 in 1962?
